What We Believe

“The Bible”

The Bible is the Word of God, God-breathed, and therefore inerrant in the original documents, infallible, authoritative, and sufficient (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17)
There is one God, perfect in holiness; infinite in power, wisdom, goodness and love; and existing eternally in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – Who are one in substance and power (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 6:3; 44:6; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17; 2:5).

“Jesus”

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in His essential deity, and perfect, real humanity; His absolute holiness and therefore impeccability; His sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, visible ascension into heaven, present and eternal glory, high priestly ministry, imminent personal return and universal reign (John 1:1-4, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 1:15-19, 2:9; Hebrews 1; 7:24-26; Revelation 1:17-18).

“The Holy Spirit”

The Holy Spirit is a divine Person Who indwells every believer, whom He empowers for godly living, and to each of whom He imparts spiritual gifts to be used in common with other believers in the church for the glory of God and the profit of all (John 14:16; 17, 26; 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 12:7-11).

“Man”

Man was created by God in His image, with both physical and spiritual components – spirit, soul, and body. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in Eden, they became sinners, and their sinful nature has been inherited by all their descendants (except the Lord Jesus Christ Who was born of a virgin and holy – Luke 1:34) (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7; 3; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Psalm 51:5; 58:3; Romans 5:12-19).

“Salvation”

Salvation from sin, deliverance from hell, and assurance of heaven are solely on the basis of the finished work of Christ on the cross, and received by repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. The believer in the Lord Jesus Christ possesses eternal life, eternal salvation, eternal redemption, and is eternally secure (John 3:14-18, 36; 5:24; 10:27-30; Acts 16:31; 20:21; Romans 4:24-5:11; 8:28-39; 10:9-13; Galatians 3:13-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Hebrews 5:9; 9:12).

“Spiritual Baptism”

Every born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ has been baptized in the Spirit into the body of Christ, and is a member of the church which is His body (1 Corinthians 12:13-14; 14:33; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 5:23-27).

“Return of Christ”

The Lord Jesus Christ will return personally to take His people to be with Himself and subsequently to judge the world and reign in righteousness (John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Acts 17:31; Revelation 1:7; 11:15; 19:11-16).

“Baptism”

We believe in the ordinance of baptism, by immersion, of all who believe, as a public testimony of their faith and of their desire to live for the Lord (Acts 8:36-38; Romans 6:4).
“Communion”

We believe in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper, as a remembrance of Himself, observed on the first day of each week, until He comes again (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

“The Local Church”

Each local church, as described in the New Testament, is composed of true believers only, and is characterized by adherence to the Word of God, acknowledgement of the Lordship of Christ, practice of the priesthood of all believers, the fellowship of the saints, and the exercise of the spiritual gifts under the control of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 1:2; 14:3; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Timothy 3:15; 1 Peter 2:5, 9; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians 4:7-16; 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10).

“Marriage ”

We believe that marriage as ordained by God is the union between one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others (Gen. 2:24). This is also confirmed in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 19:4-5.
