Glory before He died: Jesus Forgave
Luke 23:33-34; 39-43
1) Jesus forgave soldiers
"The cross, with its injustice, cruelty, and suffering, was anything but a comedy. But the people who participated in the events of that day at Calvary turned it into one. To them it was a ludicrous, farcical event, a joke, the butt of which was Jesus. They found the idea that He was the King of the Jews to be laughable; and were sneering at Him, mocked Him, and were hurling abuse at Him. Jesus had already been stripped of His freedom when He was arrested, stripped of His rights when He was unjustly condemned, stripped of His ministry, and even stripped of His clothing, down to a loin cloth. All that, however, was not enough to satisfy His enemies; they were about to strip Him of His life. In doing so, they wanted to make sure that they stripped Him of His honor, His dignity, and any respect that He might still command." - John MacArthur New Testament Commentary Luke 18-24 pg. 376
2) Jesus forgave a Thief
